FIT AND FORGET….

A painless solution to the headache of remedials to conservatory installations is being prescribed by Aztec Conservatory Roof Systems.

Aztec maintains its combination of innovations in the design of the roof structure itself eliminates remedials: “It’s a case of ‘fit and forget’”, says Aztec Sales Director Colin Bennett.

Return visits to an installation to ‘made good’ areas of weakness such as slipping glazing, glazing beads twisting and loosening in hot weather, and leaks through box gutters, cause the industry and its customers hassle, damaging an installer’s reputation, and costing him, and potentially his customer, time and money. The Aztec roof has been engineered from the original concept to address these weaknesses.

Aztec’s patented aluminium end closure unit addresses the problem of slipped glazing; it locks the full breadth of the glazing panel - be it polycarbonate or glass- securely into the ring beam as a constituent part of the roof frame. This not only simultaneously improves the structural integrity of the roof, but also eliminates risk of the glazing edge lifting under wind loading.

Aztec’s system of using twin beads to secure the glazing means each panel can be fitted individually, improving site safety and reducing risk of panels being damaged during the installation process. Once installed, the use of two beads enables each to individually react to temperature changes, eliminating the risk of the bead twisting and loosening as the sun travels through the sky, its warmth hitting one side of the bead whilst the other is in cooler shadow.
The other main remedial issue is water leaking into the conservatory below, usually through the ridge, or where the conservatory abuts the receiving property.

Aztec’s wall bar incorporates an integral deep gutter channel, into which the flashing is located. The channel is deliberately contoured to drain water away into the gutter. A patented ridge flashing trim with an integral channel into which the flashing is laid provides an effective water collection and drainage solution. Aztec’s finials and crest simply clip over the ridge- rather than screw into place- ensuring a watertight ridge.

Adds Colin, “Time is money, and remedials cost a lot of time, visiting the site to assess the problem, organising when the work can be done, and then physically doing it, all alongside the everyday schedule of installing entire roofs. And none of that time, or the work, can be recharged to the customer, so hits the installer in the pocket, reducing his profit on the job. Our system is technically engineered to avoid any of those issues, and accommodate all levels of fitting expertise so the installer/ retailer can genuinely ‘fit and forget’: he will never have to revisit for those problems, making his life more pleasant and more profitable!”
